Tyler Skaggs Cause of Death Revealed
On July 1st, authorities found Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs dead in his hotel room. The team resided in a hotel is Southlake, Texas while on a road trip to play the Texas Rangers. In the weeks after his death, thousands of people around the Major League Baseball community poured their condolences to Tyler’s family, friends, and teammates. His cause of death had remained a mystery… until last week.
According to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner report, a large amount of opioids, including oxycodon and fentanyl, and alcohol were found in Tyler’s system around the time of his death. Examiners hypothesize that Tyler became violently ill as a result of his cocktail and proceeded to choke and suffocate on his own vomit. He was 27 years old at the time of his death.
In the last few weeks, many of Tyler’s teammates, including generational talent Mike Trout, have publicly praised Tyler for being a tremendous teammate and human being. They acknowledged his ability has a crafty left-handed pitcher, but they directed the majority of the praise towards Tyler’s enthusiastic and contagious personality. In their minds, everything seemed fine.
Unfortunately, Tyler suffered from demons that he strongly felt needed to stay hidden. He had not reached out to any of his teammates to say that he was struggling.
